Flipping My Script
Adrian Alvarado (General Hospital, SVU, American Horror Story) was a recent guest on State of Mind with Maurice Benard, where he talked about his book, Flipping My Script. Alvarado wrote the book as a way for him to heal from his generational trauma as well as a way to help others heal from their own.
Open, therapeutic, inspirational, and edifying are a few words that come to mind as you listen to Alvarado talk about his life and about the book. His story is one of struggle, loss, trauma, grief, that Alvarado “flipped” into one of forgiveness, resilience, redemption, and restoration.
Adrian Alvarado on State of Mind:
Alvarado touches on the traumatic experiences and hardships he faced growing up: living in a violent domestic home, not having a relationship with his biological father, losing his mother to cancer just as he was starting high school, and losing his Puerto Rican heritage, which resulted in a fractured identity for the young Alvarado.
He attributes his faith and belief in God that gave him an understanding of what was happening to him and that gave him the strength to endure and overcome. His wife, his kids, developing a loving relationship with his biological father, acting, and writing Flipping My Script have all been key factors in Alvarado’s process of healing, wholeness, and building a new foundation for his family and for generations to come.
Nobody gets through life without experiencing hardship, struggle, and pain. We all need inspiration and encouragement. This segment is uplifting for all; watch it below!
